Bond reduction motion denied in sex abuse case
That’s the ruling handed down by Morgan County Judge Tim Olson in the case of 47-year-old Richard Henson, who had been asking for reduced bail. Olson this morning denied the motion, saying the bond was reasonable given the 11 Morgan County charges filed against Henson and added he didn’t feel it was necessary to overturn a decision already made by Morgan County Judge Rich Mitchell.
Henson this month waived his right to a preliminary hearing and pleaded not guilty to 11 separate charges in three cases. The 11 counts were filed in connection with alleged incidents with three separate victims in Morgan County between October 2003 and October 2009, and range from aggravated criminal sexual abuse to predatory criminal sexual assault of a child.
He’s facing up to 30 years in prison if convicted on predatory criminal sexual assault of a child. Henson is also facing charges of predatory criminal sexual assault of a child and aggravated criminal sexual abuse in Douglas County, where he’s already posted bail.
Henson is due back in Morgan County Court next month.
