School Board to test 'reduce before eliminate' motto
Superintendent Les Huddle says the board will discuss reductions as a way to start to narrow that six-figure gap. If no changes are made to the district’s budget, it will be over $2 million in the red. No action will be taken on budget issues tonight.
Huddle says he will recommend several cuts for the board to discuss. The board last month agreed to look at three different levels of reductions and choose the one that made the most fiscal sense. Level one includes a possible cut of $1 million, or half of the deficit. Level two includes potentially cutting $1.5 million. Level three includes cutting the entire $2 million deficit.
Huddle says his recommended cuts will be as far away from the kids as possible, but admits when trying to list recommended reductions, it may be tough.
Tonight’s meeting starts at 7:00 in the JHS Media Center.
