A Jacksonville couple is taking the reins of the United Way’s annual fundraising campaign. 

Shawn and Amy McCombs have been selected as the 2010 Co-Chairs for the Prairieland United Way Campaign. This year’s fundraising goal is $535,000 and the theme is “Live United”. The two have been involved with United Way for several years, Shawn since 1993 and Amy dating back to 1995.

The couple will preside over the campaign’s August kickoff event.

It’s slated to take place at Community Park on August 19th at 3 p.m.

United Way helps more than 33-thousand people annually by funding 45 programs. These programs include youth and adult services, mentoring, guidance, and education.

Prairieland United Way serves Morgan, Scott, Cass and Greene Counties.
