ATTACHMENT B TO EEO PUBLIC FILE REPORT FOR STATIONS WLDS-AM/WEAI-FM
During the time period of August 1, 2008 and ending on July 31, 2009, Stations WLDS-AM and WEAI-FM undertook the following Outreach Prong 3 menu option pursuant to the FCC's EEO rules: 1--Continued an internship program that was established during 2003, which is designed to assist members of the community to acquire skills needed for broadcast employment. During the time period of August 1, 2008 to July 31, 2009, WLDS-WEAI employed and paid two interns to work part time at WLDS-WEAI, and had two other interns training. One person was employed to be instructed in and perform duties associated with the positions of receptionist/administrative assistant and announcing. Another was paid for a part time shift on a weekends on WEAI. 2--Co-sponsored a Career and Employment Expo with the local office of the Illinois Department of Employment Security, an agency with substantial participation of women and minorities. The event was held April 2nd, 2009 at MacMurray College in Jacksonville, Illinois. Upwards of over 80 employer groups (including WLDS-WEAI) set up exhibits, staffed their positions, distributed informational pieces and answered many questions from hundreds of job seekers and students who attended the event. WLDS-WEAI broadcast from the event, and WLDS-WEAI General Manager Gary Scott, General Sales Manager Mark Whalen, program director Perry Brown, and sales reps Linda Lonergan, and Mary Hankins encouraged a number of the attendees to submit job applications with WLDS-WEAI. Credit was given to WLDS-WEAI for the outstanding response (see attached letter). If your organization would like to be contacted regarding future vacancies, please contact Gary Scott at:
